The Donnybrook is BACK
One of the city's favorite boxing event is back. Local Pittsburgh favorites take on Dublin's best as we present the 4th Donnybrook in Friday night March 10th.
This first-class exhibition of Pittsburgh's top amateur boxers will take on the Drimnagh Boxing Club managed by Michael Carruth. Michael was the first boxer from Ireland to win an Olympic Gold Medal (Barcelona ’92), and is one of only four Irish athletes to ever win an Olympic Gold Medal. Since the Olympics, Michael has volunteered as a coach in the boxing club founded by his father, legendary Irish boxing coach Austin Carruth.
These dedicated young adult athletes will once again battle to gain ownership of the Ambassador's Cup Trophy. The first Pittsburgh Donnybrook was held in 2014 with Pittsburgh winning the prestigious Ambassador's Cup. In 2015 and 2016, the Drimnagh Boxing Club won!
Donnybrook 2023 will see Drimnagh back in the 'Burgh and Pittsburgh taking on the best of local boxers continuing the ties between our great city and Ireland. Proceeds from the night will be shared by the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh and Drimnagh Boxing Club.
